- The conversion of the existing 500 MW simple cycle power plant (located in Maisan Governorate, Iraq) into a 750 MW combined cycle power plant by adding (x2) steam turbine units with incremental electrical power of 250 MW.
- The project was developed by Amara Power Company Ltd. (APC), a special purpose project company owned by RASEP, pursuant to a 15 years’ long-term power purchase contract (PPC) executed with the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity.
- The construction of the project started in 2019, and since June 2023, the steam turbine units have been in commercial operation generating an additional 250 MW to the Iraqi national grid
