Maisan Combined Cycle Power Plant (MCCPP)
The construction and operation, on BOO basis, of 960 MW combined cycle power plant in Maisan Governorate, Iraq.
The project was developed by Maisan Power Company Ltd. (MPC), a special purpose project company owned by RASEP, pursuant to a 17.5 years’ long-term power purchase contract (PPC) executed with the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity.
The construction of the project started in 2019, and since June 2022, MCCPP has been in commercial operation generating electrical power to the Iraqi national grid
It provides electrical power to Maisan Governorate as well as other provinces. The plant is set to contribute an additional 750 MW to the national grid under normal operating conditions, comprising 500 MW from the simple cycle and 250 MW from the combined cycle. It employs advanced technologies that minimize energy loss and are environmentally friendly.
